There’s towing, and then there’s towing something worth more than a house. When a customer hands us the keys to a Rolls-Royce, a lowered exotic, or a collector car, the standard doesn’t change — but the stakes do. Every one of those calls comes down to the same thing: proper flatbed technique.
Why flatbed, always, for these vehicles
A flatbed — a rollback — carries the vehicle completely off the ground. Nothing rolls, nothing drags, and ground clearance stops being a problem. For low, wide, expensive, or all-wheel-drive vehicles, that’s the only acceptable method:
- No drivetrain wear — the wheels never turn during transport
- Low-angle loading so front splitters and air dams clear the deck
- Soft ties to the wheels, never over paint, chrome, or body panels
- Full control on and off the deck, at walking speed
The details that protect the car
Loading a lowered or low-clearance vehicle is where experience shows. We use approach boards when we need them, wheel straps instead of chains over the body, and we take the extra minute to set the tie-downs right. On a car like the Cullinan pictured here, “close enough” isn’t in the vocabulary.
Not just for exotics
The same technique that protects a six-figure SUV protects your daily driver. Any AWD vehicle, any EV, anything lowered or modified, and any car you simply care about should ride on a flatbed — and every one gets the same careful hands.
